L33t H@x07! - or Ugly High Contrast Design to illustrate a point!

With a simple modification to nnotesws.dll, I can get custom color schemes and chicklet icons on my workspace - but should it be this difficult to make the Lotus Notes client more my or my organization's Lotus Notes client?

I should start this by saying that I'm a devout Workspace user - it's what I cut my teeth on and despite many an earnest effort to utilize the welcome page, my own welcome/dashboard pages, and the like - I still can't get past it: I'm a Workspace launcher.

So I started out yesterday, working along in the Notes client... when I wondered if there was a way to modify the look of the welcome page to something more appealing. No configuration, and no documentation that I've found report any native ability to modify the Workspace's gray splash and gray chicklet icons... so a hunting I went!

I'll try to get this into an article, but here's my first crack at it:
