Your Development & Design Resource

Do you use Showtime, Time Tracker, or Abbr from OpenNTF? If so, I need your help...

Do you happen to use Showtime (my Blackberry Enterprise Server Push Utility for the Lotus Notes Client), Time Tracker (my personal proficiency tracker for the Lotus Notes Client), or Abbr (my TinyURL-like Lotus Notes Domino Application)?

I was recently asked to submit these projects for consideration for the 2010 Lotus Awards... and I need your help!

If you're currently using (and hopefully benefiting from using) any of these open source OpenNTF.org applications, please email me at ctoohey@dominoguru.com with your contact details or simply comment on this post (and please be certain to include your email address in the comment form so I am able to contact you...). Part of the nomination process is to get customer testimonials, so that's where it stands now: me asking you, Constant Reader, what you thought of each solution and how it benefitted you.

Not using any of these applications? Seriously?!

That's a more pressing issue than my need for testimonials!

Here's a brief review of each project:

Showtime

Showtime, my Blackberry Enterprise Server Push Utility for the Lotus Notes Client, allows you to create Jobs for individual Channel, Message, and Browser Content Pushes, as well as allows you to delete Pushed Channel Icons from defined recipient devices.

Time Tracker

Time Tracker is an Open Source Efficiency Tracking Utility for the Lotus Notes Client.

The idea is simple. At the start of your day - upon completion of your first task - create an entry highlighting what you did and whether you feel it was an efficient or inefficient use of your time. Based on several requests, you can also select the priority, apply categories, or even align your time against a project.

For Lotus Notes Client v8.0 and above, you can use the Time Tracker Widget to make this process even easier!

Time Tracker v1.1
- Open Source Efficiency Tracking Utility for the Lotus Notes Client - Sidebar
Widget

Features

  • Lotus Notes Client Interface
Take a look at your daily time log and quickly pinpoint inefficient problem areas in your day. See how your time is spent against your priorities, your projects, and categories that you maintain.
  • Lotus Notes Sidebar Widget
Making your time tracking even easier, you can opt to use the time logging and categorization capabilities of the Time Tracker v1.1 Lotus Notes Client Sidebar Widget!

Abbr

... I had a customer putting TinyURL-generated URLs that pointed to their internal intranet into their SAP system. This was less than acceptable to say the least, and spawned Abbr - a TinyURL-like Application for Lotus Notes Domino.

The idea is simple: each entry in Abbr contains a combination of Keys and URLs. Link to <domain>/Keyword and Abbr redirects you to your intended URL!

Using a combination of Website Substitution Rules and Best Practices Domino Web Application Development, Abbr allows you to maintain simple permalinks throughout and beyond your organization.

So, instead of:

http://www-01.ibm.com/software/lotus/products/dominodesigner/

You can use this:

http://abbr.dominoguru.com/DDE

Simple right?

Project Abbr - New Entry

That's the idea behind the application - keep things simple. From User Interface to User Experience to the actual design of the application, it's - wait for it - simple!

So if you are using any of these applications, please get in touch. If not... what the hell are you waiting for?!
