03/25/2008 02:33:46 PM | Chris Toohey | Saylorsburg, PA
We spent one of the Easter vacation days last week at The Franklin Institute, and of course spent a good few hours in the Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination exhibit - more on my son Alexander's request than anything (LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy made the my now 4 year old a complete Star Wars-addict!).

The kids had a blast! Hell, this kid had a blast! My wife, who has still yet to see the movies... enjoyed her family's joy! ;-)
While I was disappointed that some of the displays were malfunctioning (due to lack of staff on-hand and the foot traffic I'm certain), I know the family had a great time while getting to learn about magnetic propulsion, robotics, and how today's science fiction is tomorrow's science fact.

Wow! My 6 yr old son would be so jealous. We have the complete saga of the Star Wars Legos on XBox, and just yesterday he spent his own money on star wars legos droids after repeatedly asking us to take him to Target so he could get them.
Did you see the TV program on how Star Trek shaped the world, narrated by William Shatner? It was pretty funny, but also talked about how many things came from the show, including the first music player on the Mac (and therefore iTunes & iPod).
I think that was also the show where they revealed that the original transporter special effects were from stiring glitter in a glass of water. :-)
