For Lotus Notes Client v8.0 and above, you can use the Time Tracker Widget to make this process even easier!

DEMO VIDEO: Remote Console - IBM Lotus Domino Remote Console Command App

07/20/2010 12:25:00 PM by Chris Toohey

To help illustrate the just how slick my latest $5 app is (ok, I'm biased...), I put together a simple demo video showing Remote Console v1.0 in the IBM Lotus Notes Client and going mobile via my RIM BlackBerry 9700.

(This is recorded in 1280x720, so I recommend going full-screen!)

You can find out more about this app at http://abbr.dominoguru.com/remoteconsole or you can purchase this application -- which is compatible with IBM Lotus Domino Releases 6.0 and greater -- right now via http://abbr.dominoguru.com/remoteconsole_download!

Patrick PicardName:Patrick PicardComment Hi Chris
Is it possible to allow the user to specify an argument to the command?

ie: setup a command for compacting a specific user
load compact -c <user_entered_path>

Chris - VERY NICE!  You had me at $5. (#NotAFootLong)

@Patrick:

In short, no. The app is specifically written to accept *only* the submitted command value (which is why I'm passing a Command document UNID vs. a console command via Query String Parameter...). The other idea behind locking this down is that -- should you give this to your helpdesk or other IT staff -- you don't want them to be able to submit console commands that you did not specifically allow them to (nor screw up something during data entry).

The app could certainly be customized -- the $5 download comes complete with the source/design -- so it's certainly possible!

@Bruce:

It's certainly priced-to-sell... which I'm of course hoping it does!

Do I buy that:
- Per named user (I have a closet with gadgets)
- Per server
- Per gadget
- Per domain?

Chris TooheyName:Chris TooheyWebsite:http://www.dominoguru.com/Comment

@Stephan:

It's really designed to be per-domain, but it's on the honor system.

Stephan H. WisselName:Stephan H. WisselWebsite:http://www.wissel.net/Comment

Per  Admin/Domain?

So if I manage 2 Domains and Joe manages the same two I buy 4 copies (probably 20$ invested well)?
